Former Principal, The SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ of Edinburgh

Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea FRSE, Former Principal of the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ of Edinburgh. A computer scientist, he is a graduate of the Universities of Sussex and Leeds. He became Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ of Edinburgh in 2002.

Professor O’Shea is Chair of: the Scottish Institute for Enterprise; the Board of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society; and Newbattle Abbey College Trust. He is Convener of the Scottish Government’s Further and Higher Education Sector Oversight Board for Information and Communications Technology. He holds honorary degrees from Heriot Watt SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ of Strathclyde, McGill SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ and Saint Petersburg SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Professor O’Shea was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen’s 2008 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of his services to higher education.
