Nyein Says UoPeople Helped Her Visualize Her Dreams

Nyein T., Health Science, Myanmar

Nyein T. was born and raised in the capital city of Myanmar, Mandalay. It鈥檚 there that she attended a famous competitive school for her primary and middle-grade education. Nyein worked very hard to make good grades. 鈥淓ven though I was learning in a very competitive, high-pressure environment, my parents always supported me in every way they could. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the medical field. I saw doctors and nurses as heroes in white coats rushing to help people. When I told my parents I wanted to build a career in health science, they couldn鈥檛 have been more encouraging,鈥 she recounts.

Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in Myanmar made it difficult for Nyein to follow her childhood dream of becoming a doctor despite having a fantastic score on her matriculation exams. 鈥淭he universities in Myanmar are currently not functioning like they used to. We are denied our fundamental educational rights in the country,鈥 she says with a tinge of sadness.

This became the main reason that Nyein began searching for an online university of high quality that could provide her with an education in health science. 鈥淚 found UoPeople through an educational group on Facebook. I was excited to see the option to pursue a Bachelor’s in Health Science. I am quite impressed by the teaching methodology and the technology the university uses to make remote learning such a pleasurable process. The instruction is based on practical lessons. The virtual laboratory used in the biology course is pretty interesting,鈥 she adds.

Along with her full-time education at SA国际传媒, Nyein helps to run her family鈥檚 small online content and design business. 鈥淢y parents are not very well-versed with the online, modern way of doing business. So, it becomes important for me to spend a great deal of time every day helping them. However, I still manage to study for a few hours at night after dinner. I like the flexibility I have at UoPeople to choose the number of courses I feel that I can manage each term.鈥

Along with juggling work and studies, Nyein manages to get adequate 鈥榤e-time.鈥 She is a self-taught guitar player. She also devotes herself passionately to learning English lessons on the side. 鈥淚 hope to graduate from UoPeople in 2025. My program makes me believe that I can attain my dreams of working in healthcare,鈥 she says with enthusiasm.

Even though she keeps very busy with her family business, Nyein plans to hand it over to someone else while she finishes her education. 鈥淭he health science journey I am on is long, challenging and enjoyable. I try to go with the flow and learn as much as I can, but I don鈥檛 rush things because I want to enjoy the entire experience,鈥 she says.

What does the future hold for Nyein? After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, she plans to advance her education by pursuing a Master鈥檚 degree. 鈥淚 would love to join one of the universities that collaborate with UoPeople. I am trying my best to be at the top of my class in every course,鈥 Nyein says with an enthusiastic smile.
