Timothy M. Calls Computer Science the Only Unifying Science in the World

a male computer science student

Timothy M., Computer Science, Kenya

Born in a multicultural and multireligious metropolitan town in Kenya, Timothy lived through a lot of struggles in Nairobi when he along with his parents and siblings took refuge there. “We lived in a shanty slum center in Nairobi. Before the beginning of free primary education, which happened in 2022, I busied myself with playing street football. I collected small stuff from the waste on the streets and sell them to the middlemen who recycled such things. That’s how I supported my family with the few coins I earned by selling waste. Once I received the opportunity to learn formally, I gave it my best. My educational journey is still on, and I am very glad to have found UoPeople,” he says.

Timothy chanced upon UoPeople looking for an online university he could afford—that let him have the flexibility to earn his living and take care of his family. “I am learning a lot and love the global peer diversity at UoPeople. It’s truly a state-of-the-art educational institution with lectures and study material designed for the modern audience,” he adds.

Timothy chose to earn a degree in computer science at UoPeople for his passion for coding and programming. Machines, he says, drive his imagination. “Computer science is the only unifying science that exists in this world,” he says. Besides the course instruction and curriculum at UoPeople, he loves that he can be a family man along with being a full-time student. “Asynchronous online learning allows me to run errands whenever I wish to. It means a lot to me,” he explains.

Once he has earned his computer science degree, Timothy plans to open a cyber cafe and a coding school in his town. He feels motivation has made him come a long way despite various obstacles. So, he would like to also write motivational books for others in the future.

SAʴý is glad to be able to support the dreams and aspirations of so many learners like Timothy and wishes him all the best.
